Bonded Labour and Gender Concerns at Work – Interactive Self Learning Module

Bonded labour is the violation of basic human rights. It is not allowed under the constitution and laws of Pakistan. But it is a sad reality thatbonded labour in different forms is found especially in the rural areas and in certain geographic regions in Pakistan. This interactive self-learning module is aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of its users about forced and bonded labour with special emphasis on gender dimensions of the problem on which very little infomation is available. Research Study on OSH Problems of Child & Young Workers

The CIWCE with the collaboration of International Labour Organisation and EC's project Combating Abusive Child Labour-II has launched major study in the districts of Sahiwal and Sukkur to assess hazards faced by child and young workers. A major highlight of this study is that psychosocial stresses faced by working children and adolescents are also being assessed. The study is focusing on 10 sectors of economy where children mights be found exposed to hazardous work conditions. Pakistan has ratified ILO Convention 182 on Worst forms of Child Labour. This study is likely to help launch action oriented programmes for eliminations of hazardous forms of child labour.
